    Teachers workshop:

    WWF – India Gujarat State Office, organized a teachers training workshop (TTW) on Climate Change & Global Warming under Young Climate Saver Program on 23rd January 2008 at Center for Environment Education (CEE) – Ahmedabad. This workshop has been organized for school teachers to generate awareness on global warming & climate change. Different faculties were invited to present the lectures/ presentation on various different topics like Science of Climate change, Impact of climate change, Mitigation measures of climate change etc. 14 Teachers from different schools participated. The detail of the participators is as follows.

    The workshop begin with an introduction & welcome speech by the State Director- GSO which was followed by Introduction of WWF-India & role of YCS program by Ms. Farida Tampal, Coordinator-Education, WWF-India.

    Dr. Ajit Pandya, Lecturer, C. U. Shah Science college, Ahmedabad made a presentation on Science of Climate Change under which he highlighted the issues like climate system, GHG emission & its effects, causes of GHG etc. After the discussion Dr. Jitendra Gawali, Deputy Director, Community Science Center, Vadodara made a presentation on Impact of Climate Change where he put forward the regional & Sectoral impacts of climate change on Gujarat & India. Prof. S.D. Sabnis, Member, Gujarat State Committee, WWF – India, delivered a presentation on Mitigation measures of climate change where he highlighted the emission reduction of GHG & its mitigation strategies.

    The post lunch session begins with the group activity by teachers, where the teachers prepared the charts & demonstrated the causes, effects & mitigation measures of global warming & climate change to teach the students of their school. The Film Screening then followed the program on Climate change. The workshop was concluded by the vote of thanks given by Dr, Jayesh Bhatt, State Director; Gujarat State Office to all the participants, faculties and staff.
