Teachers workshop:
The initial Teacher’s Training Workshop for the Young Climate Savers program was conducted on December 15, 2007 at DAV Public School, Unit 8, Bhubaneswar. The theme of the Workshop was: Orientation for teachers on the Tetrapak ‘Young Climate Savers Program’. The program was for teachers of selected schools to orient them on the Young Climate Savers’ program to be conducted in their respective schools. This meeting was inaugurated by the welcome speech of the State Director of Orissa. He gave a brief description on WWF and its activity nationally and internationally. He also gave a brief description of TETRAPAK and their association with WWF-India for the Young Climate Savers program. Then he gave a detailed explanation of “Young Climate Savers” program and its time schedule. A short film on Global Climate Change “Climate Change – The Untold Story” was screened. The presentations were made by two Resource Persons, namely Dr. P.K. Mohapatra, Reader of Botany Department in Utkal University, Orissa, and Dr. A. K. Upadhya, Assistant Director in Ministry of Forest and Environment, East Zone, Bhubaneswar. Dr P.K.Mohapatra conducted the first session of this program. He made a presentation on “Global Climate Change: Impact, Adaptation and Vulnerability”. His
second session was on “Mitigation of Climate Change”. The third session was conducted by Dr. A.K. Upadhya. He made a presentation on “The Climate Change: Policies and Actions”. Both resource persons conduced an intense interaction after their respective presentations.The program was attended by seventeen teachers from different schools.
