About Tetra Pak and WWF

“We are the future of a Green Planet”

‘Climate Change’ is one of the most critical environmental challenges facing the world today. The climatic changes that are taking place, and those that are predicted, are largely induced by humans.  Unprecedented levels of global warming caused by human actions are the primary reason for ‘Climate Change’.

As a responsible corporate citizen, Tetra Pak is committed to following a path of sustainable development – doing business in harmony with nature.  Some examples of our sustainable development way are:

  • A global pact with WWF where we have pledged to reduce our CO2 emissions by an absolute 10% by the year 2010 over those in 2005 (and we are well on our way).
  • A recycling programme that ensures that more and more used cartons are recovered and recycled.
  • Working with renewable materials and energy that don’t burden our planet’s finite resources.

Education is also a key to this problem of ‘Climate Change’.  By reaching out to our younger generations and future consumers, Tetra Pak hopes that these ‘harbingers of new hope’ can mitigate this significant threat to our environment.

To achieve goals for an India that is energy efficient and better adapted to ‘Climate Change’, WWF India and Tetra Pak India joined hands to launch the “Young Climate Savers” Programme – a series of workshops on ‘Climate Change’ in schools across the country, sensitizing children through teachers.

The objectives of these workshops are:

  • To educate and motivate students across the country to contribute in a meaningful manner in reducing the impact of ‘Climate Change’;
  • To inculcate leadership and motivation skills for promoting energy efficient lifestyles and eco-friendly attitudes.

This is a unique initiative - the first and possibly the largest single activity focused on ‘Climate Change’ among students in India. The programme aims to reach out to over 50,000 students in 200 schools every year.
